Food Allergy Tips and Tricks

Hello,

My name is Kate and I am the mother of an almost 2 1/2 year old little boy. He's the best and I love being a mom. I am starting this blog because I discovered my son was allergic to dairy, eggs and peanuts when he was 7 months old. One day I gave him baby yogurt and he broke out in hives. Over the past 2 years I have learned alot when it comes to reading food labels and cooking for him. Even though it is a pain at times trying to find the right products for him to eat, I must admit he is probably eating much healthier than if he did not have the allergies.

Hopefully, in a few years he will outgrow the dairy and egg allergy but right now the nut one doesn't seem like it is going anywhere. He gets a skin test and bloodwork every six months so I will keep my fingers crossed.

So in this blog you should expect to see allergy-free product suggestions, links to articles and recipes. Hopefully, this will also make your life a little easier especially if you are just starting out. As with all food allergies though make sure you read the labels, and then double check, and re-check them before you have anyone eat the product. And if all else fails make sure you speak to your doctor or allergist.

Hope you enjoy and find some useful information.

Kate

Hi Kate,

I am so excited to have found your blog! I, too, have a son with peanut and egg allergy (as well as tree nuts and peas...), so finding new recipes is a very exciting thing for me! I can't wait to try the pumpkin pancakes.

Hope you enjoy them. I always make them for my son on the weekends. They do take a little time to cook but well worth the wait.
